My son gave me these lovely tulips for Mother’s Day and, as they settled in and began to take on the lovely shapes I knew I had to paint them. The background was inspired by a paper I have in my collection which I found on a visit to the USA. It’s the first time I’ve used gold leaf in a painting. It’s my favourite painting to date.
The painting is beautifully framed in solid ash, hand painted in Farrow and Ball ‘Shaded White’; face width 3.5cm and depth of 2cm. A deep bevelled, acid free Minuet mount in antique white of 3500 microns thick adds to the simplicity of the frame to compliment any interior.
